Knights Wired for Action
|
|
Over a period of several weeks in July, members of the Knights of Columbus made a difference for St. Stephen Catholic School. Exemplifying the Knights core principal of Unity, these men, under the guidance and direction of John DeCourt, came together and pooled their talents to prepare the new modular classrooms for the upcoming school year.

From The GrandKnight
During the month, we distributed $500 to Special Olympics and $1489 to Camp Able; both monies were from the tootsie roll drive and targeted to help Special Children.
The search for new charitable areas is going well and I have found a source to help. But before we look at other charities, we have a great need at home. There are many people out of work and in need. For the St. Stephen’s community, it is the volunteers of the St.Vincent de Paul Society that responds to these needs.
The Society responds to all who need help and are living within the boundaries of the parish, without regard to race or religious denomination. If someone requests assistance to help pay for utilities or food, this society responds to their needs.
For Christmas last year, St. Vincent de Paul had to use $1500 from reserves to meet their requirements.
We have decided that the Council will target raising $2000 to help. The ideas now on the
table include a spaghetti dinner, September 24th, and Christmas tree sales. (The almost $500 raised by the bowling league is a firm foundation.)
Regarding Communication, Mike Grogan and Darin O’Neal have taken on the responsibility of contacting all Knights in 14084 Council, so don’t be surprised if you receive a call.
Congratulations to our Family of the Month the DeCort’s and our Knight of the Month Paul Crescimone. Both winners did an excellent job on the Vacation Bible School.
Volunteer for a function, you’ll have a great time and feel good about it.
